2019-2018

2019: "Conflicts and Resistance"

This conference encouraged scholars to look at political, social, cultural, and economic conflict and resistance and to examine how conflict and resistance has shaped and changed the world. Wars, activism, political upheaval, economic fluctuations are amongst the events that influence world history. Through the conference, scholars analyzed how people have reacted to historical conflict and resisted accordingly, thus changing the course of history.

2018: "On the Margins"

How do the people, places, ideas, markings, or objects which occupy this peripheral space develop, operate, and interact? How do those interactions change others in the dominant space and on the margin? How do they contextualize and influence other margins or the dominant spaces? This conference interpreted the concept of ‘the margin’ broadly. Scholars explored the marginalia of manuscripts, socially marginalized populations, minority (or perceived minority) political, social, or cultural groups, counter-cultural movements, or digital spaces.
